Fame, fans, looks, success…what do you get a guy who has everything? Well, I’m sure the number one thing that Jordan’s going to be asking Santa for this holiday season is… TIME! He has none. He doesn’t even have time to listen to music. His iPod is EMPTY! Between touring with the rest of the New Kids On The Block, launching his new album, doing solo performances, and making appearances, Jordan is lucky to eat and sleep. He’s going crazy… but in the best way possible. Even with the stress of it all, he’s still just a grateful, chill, funny, and delightfully normal guy. He does his own laundry. He gets parking tickets. He’s a Twitter addict. He loses phone reception in tunnels. He’s just Jordan.

Okay, before we get into everything that’s gone on in 2011 so far, let’s take it from the top with New Year’s Eve. Tell me about what it was like performing in Times Square.

Well, I mean, obviously it was pretty surreal. The thing that struck me the most was how many people were there, but how organized it was. It was like the hot spot of the universe at the moment. The security was extremely tight. You would think it would just be a sea of wild people. As far as performing on the show, it was a kick because every year, that’s what you usually watch, is the ball drop with the countdown. It was a big, big deal. A big deal! They told us like 35 million people would be watching us when we stepped on that stage. I was just like, ‘Wow!’

Well, speaking of a “Wow” factor. Let’s talk about the new album.

Yea, well, it was actually done and in the can last year. We were just waiting for everything to fall into place with the distributors and everything like that. I actually had the record Let’s Go Higherfor a while and people kept tellin’ me that that was the one.

So where does the name Unfinished come from?

Unfinished comes from a name of a song on the album. I thought it would be a good title for the album ‘cause it’s not like I’m really saying that I’m unfinished or washed up. The whole idea I’m trying to get across is that no matter where you are in your life or who you are or how old you are, if you stay positive and keep trying, your life can always be “unfinished” and a work in progress.

I got ya. So, what kind of sound… are there a lot of dance tracks? What’s the album like?

Um, the album is actually pretty well-rounded. The vibe I think it is rhythmic, it’s sexy, and it’s melodic. My whole thing when I did the album is that I wanted to do something that was grown and sexy… grown meaning that I want to do something my age and I’m not trying to be too young, fake, or try too hard. It had to be natural.

Oh yea? How about the sexy part?

The sexy part of it was me riding the line. I didn’t want it to be too young or too hip, but I didn’t want it to be like “old fogie” or crusty, ya know? It’s gotta be smooth and sexy, man! (He jokes in a sly tone.)

Just like you, right?! (I laugh and fire back.)

That’s right!

So, are there any duets or anything or is it just straight-up Jordan?

All the collaborations are just with the writers and producers and everyone that I worked with. I was basically like a mad scientist, just to myself making music.

Well, with the rest of the New Kids and everything, I know on your tours that you each always get to have your own moments on the stage, so will we be hearing the new album at all on this tour?

Well, I will be doing stuff on my own, but on this tour, I may not be doing stuff off the album just because there’s not enough time in the show for me to do a set. Between the Backstreet Boys and the New Kids on the Block, we need all the time we can get to sing our songs. But, I will be doing promo in every market and after the show is over this summer, I’m going to go back around and perform. I’ll be going around to radio stations and in stores too.

Okay, so how did the whole New Kids and Backstreet Boys collaboration happen in the first place?

We actually invited the Backstreet Boys to one of our shows at Radio City Music Hall about a year ago. We wanted them to come on stage as a surprise. So, we, the New Kids on the Block, sang I Want It That Way and half-way through the song, the curtain goes up and there are the Backstreet Boys. Then the crowd went crazy and after that, because of the response we got, we said, ‘Well, damn, we might as well do a whole tour!’ With all the attention and commotion that the one performance cause, we thought, ‘This is a winner here.’ Pure entertainment! Let’s put this show on the road!

Well, it’s been good so far! I mean you also all performed on Dancing With The Stars together too. How’d that whole thing come about?

I know we were in rehearsal and our manager just comes in told us that a spot opened up and Dancing With The Stars called and wants us on it. We were like, ‘What?! We’re tryin’ to get ready for a tour here.’ But, ya know what… It was a great opportunity so we said yes and thought it would just be awesome.

It definitely was awesome, so would you ever consider being on Dancing With The Stars as a contestant?

Me personally, I don’t think so. I’m honestly not that confident in my dancing. I wouldn’t want to have to deal with the pressure… unless I just decided to go on there and just say, ‘Screw it. I really don’t care.” (He laughs.) But… that’s not my style.

Right, so when opportunities like that come up out of nowhere and with the tour, your new album, your solo tour, and all that, how do you keep your sanity?

I don’t balance it at all. I’M GOING OUT OF MY MIND! I’m absolutely crazy and I can’t stand it, but I love it all at the same time. (He smiles.) I mean, it’s tough, but I’m just ridin’ the wave, man. There’s a lot of things going on. I mean, I am very busy right now and sometimes it’s a little overwhelming, but it could be a lot worse. I could be twiddling my thumbs or looking for a job right now. It’s not too bad. It’s not too bad.

Well, I know you’re on your tour buses non-stop and sometimes opt for the bus rather than a hotel. Are these some crazy, decked-out buses you have goin’ on?

Well, I was tryin’ to get a washing machine and dryer on my bus, but the particular one I was tryin’ to get was booked! (He shrugs with a smile.) But, we try to make the buses as comfortable as possible. The buses are made these days for comfort. I know Donnie and Danny had a stripper pole on their bus. I mean, it was kind of a make-shift one, but it became legendary.

Ha. For exercise, right? (I tease.)

Well, yea! Absolutely!... you know… (He exclaims in a hearty, but delightfully corny voice.) My bus doesn’t have any stripper poles on it, I can tell ya that much.

Well, you don’t need one since they already have two. (I joke.) Okay, why don’t we take a minute off the pole and talk a little more fashion. Let’s talk about personal style.

My style is slim-cut, nothing loud, a little street, and a little dressy. It’s got to cut a profile and be fitted.

So, how do you stay fitted… or fit I should say? Any workout routines?

I don’t work out a whole lot, but I do a little every day. I try to keep it consistent. I think consistency is the way to stay healthy and slim and fit.
