From music to fashion to soul, we explore the ins and outs of renowned blues pop rocker, Ladell McLin.  With a documentary out on the scene, he’s currently making appearances all over Manhattan.  He’s performed across the globe and dazzled a wide range of audiences from those pop fans out there to the eclectic misfits.  Being an already prominent figure in the music arena overseas, with a new album in the works and a determination unlike any other, McLin’s at the top… kicking ass and taking names.  Get his autograph while you can because the sky’s the limit with this one.

Describe for me your personal style.

Sexy and full of love… That's one of my new songs I’m writing by the way!  Basically, it is about life, being there and just living.

Aside from your new song, how do you feel fashion and image play a part in your being a blues/rock music artist?

I'm free as a bird, able to fly where I'm needed.  I like my outfits to express that.

Define your sound for me and what inspires your music methods?

Organic. The blues is where it all begins. It’s a man’s music and a woman's sound! That what makes us…Again, it's about life!  I hope that my sound can free or save the world one day in its own way.

Give us a little glimpse into the journey that you’ve taken to get where you are today.

I have walked the red road, accepting life as it is.  That is what got me here today!  I hope to keep growing from it through my art. Plus, I am raising my little four years son as a single parent.  That only helps myself and the music to grow stronger.  I love it!

Is some of that included in the documentary that you recently filmed? Tell me how you began this project.

The film is all about the blues!  It goes on a journey from Chicago to New Orleans.  It tells of how we as black people overcame very, very hard and rough times here in the USA, oppressed by slavery and a lot of things. We still are fighting even today to overcome some of these things, but it's the music from the slaves that help make American music and its culture what it is today.  In terms of starting the project, I actually got a call from France to do the film and I talked with the director.  We were on the same page about how we would go about it, so it was a done deal. Miceal Viotte did an amazing job on the film.

What kind of message does this story of your music send, if any?

I need it to just send life.  Music is life!

What do you personally feel keeps you going and motivates you to succeed as an artist?

Other artists, The Blues, and my guitar!!

Speaking of your guitar, you’ve been working on putting together another album.  Would you like to tell me a bit about some of the lyrics and melodies you’ve been working on?

Yes! I have about 15 or 16 tracks that I would love to release this summer.  We have a track with DMC from RUN-DMC on it called We Rock The World and some great blues mixed with rock and Ladell.  Some of my lyrics are about my life…women…what a man goes through.  It's good to sing about it.

How has your sound evolved up until this point?

More sonic boom is in it. My sound has grown up a bit.  It will only get bigger.  I would like to start to add more organ though.

Can we hear the evolution of your music in this album at all?

Yes! Yes!

So tell me about the new direction your music has taken you in recently?

I'm blessed to have some festivals this year over in Europe.  The film is also doing great!  And, I have new management in the US called N.Y.C. Public Relations that’s on that same page as I am.  So, let’s see!

Sounds like you’re on the right track, so what are you looking to accomplish this year?

To give my heart and soul to the world!  To give love and peace!  I’m going to put out a new record and some videos, not to mention working with some more great artists. And one of these days, win a Grammy! (He smiles.)
