Though the majority of her fans are teeny-bopper girls from ages 12-25, anyone who loves to dance and just have a good time needs to tap into Nadia Kay.  Her listeners love her “pop” elements and up-beat attitude… her sexy style doesn’t hurt either.  Neither does her openness and sensitivity towards her fans.  She’s available almost at their beckoned call, being a Facebook addict while manning her Twitter and Myspace pages on a daily basis as well…The beauty of technology.  Nonetheless, if you can’t find her digitally, she’s always chatting with her audiences after shows.  She likes her fans to feel comfortable, like one big get-together rather than just a performance.  So, take a second and come hang out with Nadia Kay…

Your debut album was titled “Music, Sex, ‘N’ Marshmallows”. How’d the marshmallows come into the equation?
Well... I have a really big sweet tooth and marshmallows are my favorite treat. But wait... Throw in some music and sex and you've got a winning combination. (She smiles.)

I know you have two full albums under your belt. Any ideas for a third?
I'm always writing. I can't stop. I write in my sleep, in the shower; even in the taxi... I get inspired by beauty and kindness in people and try to express that in my songs. I have been touring this entire year while promoting my recently released second album "RELOADED", so I haven't really had enough time to put together a third album, but it's definitely in the works. What I do have coming up is a release of my brand new single "WHY" on Silver Curve Records.

Oh yeah?  What’s it about?
It's an amazing dance song about love, passion, and redemption. I can't wait to share it with the world!

Your crazy energy is contagious!  You also have a very vivacious and sexy look when it comes to your wardrobe, makeup, all the way down to your posing. How did you come to realize your sultry style as not only an artist, but as a woman?
Thank you so much! I'm a very visual person, I love experimenting with different looks, trying on new makeup and styling my hair in new crazy ways but it all comes from the way I feel about the world inside and outside of me. I'm not always happy and cheerful; sometimes I get touched by darkness so all of these emotions come through in my music and the way I look. I try to stay true to myself and express what I feel in the moment rather than play a role. I want my fans to know the real me.

Well, the real you seems to have a knack for modeling. Ever thought of exploring a career in that area?
Modeling is not for me. I can't really stand still for too long. I have a short attention span. I need to keep on moving and entertain myself with new exciting projects. But, an occasional photo shoot is always fun.

So, no modeling. Check!  Music on the other hand; I hear music was in your blood…
Yes, I grew up listening to my dad play piano. He is a well-known Ukrainian Jazz composer. I started taking music lessons at four and as far as writing - how does that ABBA song go? Oh yes "I began to sing before I could talk..." My parents didn't want me to have a career in entertainment though... So, I got a marketing degree, framed my diploma, gave it to them for Christmas, and now - I'm doing me.

Was it then that you discovered your signature sound as a music artist?
I had written and recorded at least thirty songs before it all came together for me. I sang with a rock band for some time - that was super cool! Then, I did the Pop/Rock thing and now I feel really good about my current direction which is Pop/Dance. It energizes me. But you never know - maybe I'll die my hair pink tomorrow and go punk - inspiration is a wicked animal.

Other than music, what are some of your aspirations or passions?
I love designing my own outfits so I buy interesting clothes anywhere I can find them. Then, I mix and match all the pieces for a crazy-sexy-cool-Nadia-Kay style. I also love to try different foods together – I get a kick out of discovering new flavors. My latest is chocolate and bacon – yummy. I think I would also be an excellent interior designer – I love re-arranging furniture in my apartment and combining old and new styles.

Seems a little like your music… combining old and new styles into a “crazy-sexy-cool-Nadia-Kay style.”  Let’s focus on your lyrics for a second, filled with fun and sexiness. Where do you get your ideas from?
Sometimes in conversations - people say things that catch my attention. The other day, I was at Forever 21 and I heard a girl say to her boyfriend "why can't you be perfect!?..." And it dawned on me - what a great title for a song. So mark my words - there will be a song coming out soon called "Why Can't You Be Perfect" by Nadia Kay.

I better watch what I say around you. (I joke.) So, what do you feel keeps you motivated in your career when you suffer hiccups or disappointments?
Being positive is definitely the number one challenge for me. I tend to focus on the negative. It's only human to feel down at times so the best remedy I have found so far is to have some chocolate, watch Gossip Girl, and buy a pair of sexy shoes - while focusing on the positive!

Simplicity is a wonderful thing.  Isn’t it? (I smile.) Not to go back to the negative, but can you give me an example of one of the most difficult obstacles you’ve had to overcome in your career thus far?
It's important to listen to constructive criticism but at the end, no one knows you as well as you do so no one can be completely right about what you should do. And, you can't please everyone either, so just do your thing! That's what I'm doing!

Other than chocolate and episodes of Gossip Girl, what can be a good fix? What should people use to push through when they hit a roadblock in their career?
Look in the mirror and keep saying "I'm great! I'm amazing! I'm a superstar!" Keep on repeating those words until you actually believe it. And then... Never forget.
